COFFEE KNOWLEDGE

There is a story behind every cup of coffee - from the farm, the people, the cultivation, the processing, the roasting, until finally the coffee ends up in the cup. Here we want to invite you to discover with us where coffee comes from, how it was discovered, how it is cultivated and processed, through to the various ways of preparing it.

So, the good coffee has been bought, and now it's time to get that wonderful taste and aroma into the cup. We have summarized a few tips for you for different types of preparation.

A FEW IMPORTANT POINTS IN FIRST TIME

  • During preparation, there are 3 important factors that influence the final taste result, which you can play with to adapt to your own preferences: amount of coffee, water temperature and degree of grinding.

  • In order for the hot water to be able to dissolve the aromatic substances in the coffee, you have to increase the surface area of the coffee beans – this happens when you rub them. The finer the coffee is ground, the larger the surface and the more intensively the hot water extracts the soluble substances.

  • That means the longer the contact time with the hot water, the coarser the grind should be (e.g. French Press), and the shorter the contact time with the hot water, the finer the grind should be (e.g. espresso).

Based on these basic instructions, everyone can vary the individual factors such as degree of grinding, water temperature and brewing time according to their preferences and thus create their own "recipe". Accessories for all of these preparation methods can be found on our website under "essentials".
